CALL FOR PAPERS FOR THE 21ST ISSUE OF "PRO TEMPORE" STUDENT JOURNAL

We are pleased to announce that the Call for Papers for the 2025/2026 issue of “Pro Tempore” is now open. This year’s issue will accept papers on Egodocuments pertaining to history and related disciplines.

“Pro Tempore” is a journal run by students at the Department of History, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb. Our mission is to enable students of history and other related disciplines to publish articles and to help them gain experience in editorial work. Furthermore, our aim is to extend knowledge on topics in history and to acquaint authors and readers with current trends in historiography.

By choosing Egodocuments as this year’s topic, we are attempting to divert attention to the specificity of these rich, and sometimes neglected, historical sources. The topic, based on the study of egodocuments such as autobiographies, personal journals, memoirs, travelogues, and letters, encompasses all historical periods, from ancient history to contemporary times, and different methodological approaches – historical, but also sociological, anthropological, literary, imagological, and others. We welcome papers based on the study of one or more egodocuments, as well as papers which problematize the place of egodocuments in historical research. Our goal is to showcase the value of this type of historical source and the ways in which we can approach them in research.

The editorial board will consider all types of research papers, as well as reviews, translations, interviews, and reports from conferences and round tables. All submitted papers will undergo a selection process. Papers accepted for publication will be reviewed by professors.

Submitted papers can have two authors. The journal accepts only previously unpublished works. By submitting manuscripts, authors assume full moral and scientific responsibility for opinions expressed therein. All papers should be submitted in the Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx) to the following e-mail address: casopis.protempore@gmail.com. The submission deadline is May 15, 2026.

Papers should be written in Croatian or English. The journal also accepts papers in Serbian, Bosnian, and Montenegrin. All submitted papers must be written in the Latin script. Papers should be no longer than 35 pages long. The text should be justified, written in the Times New Roman font, 12 pt., the spacing adjusted to 1.5. The first and last names of the author(s), level of study, and academic institution should be listed in the first page upper-left corner. Papers must also contain an abstract (ca. 100 words) and keywords in Croatian and English, as well as a comprehensive list of sources. Footnotes should be added at the end of the page and formatted according to the Chicago Manual of Style. They should be listed in numerical order and separated from the main body of the text by the footnote separator. Footnotes should be justified, written in the Times New Roman font, 10 pt., the spacing adjusted to 1.0. Papers must contain a bibliography at the end. The bibliography should also be formatted according to the Chicago Manual of Style.
